Vietnam Airlines to open direct Hanoi-Yangon flights

National carrier Vietnam Airlines announced on Wednesday it would open direct flights from Hanoi to Myanmar’s Yangon city, also known as Rangoon, beginning March 2.

The new route would support four flights per week on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, the airline said.

To celebrate the event, tickets would be sold at the special price of VND4.6 million (US$250) each in March, according to the carrier.

The airline also said it planned to increase the number of flights to five a week this winter.
